What is erectile dysfunction?

Erectile dysfunction is the term used to explain the inability to get or maintain an erection that is necessary for adequate sexual performance. This is a common disorder, and it is predicted that by 2025 the number of men worldwide experiencing erectile dysfunction will be 322 million.

Erections usually occur when a man is aroused, by transmission of brain signals to nerves in the penis causing it to relax. Blood subsequently flows into the penis allowing it to expand, and is then trapped there to sustain an erection. Interference with the brain transmission (trigger) or blood circulation can lead to erectile dysfunction
