Taking HRT has been associated with increased risks of breast cancer, stroke and blood clots in the leg and lungs. These risks are much reduced if HRT is only taken by low risk women and only for 3-5 years. If you are under 45 and are taking HRT for a premature menopause then these risks are even lower.
