Cystitis Treatment

How to take it

One tablet is taken twice a day, for three days.

Effectiveness

Effective at treating most bacterial causes of cystitis. As soon as you recognise the cystitis symptoms as diagnosed by your doctor before, you should start the course of medication provided. If the cystitis you are suffering from is caused by a bacterial infection then your symptoms will improve within a couple of days, and you should complete the course to ensure the infection is treated. You should also drink lots of fluid.

Side-effects

Uncommon but may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, allergic rash and muscle pain.

Other things you should know

One in two women suffers from a Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) at least once in her life. Most commonly these infections are caused by bacteria transferred from the anal area into the urinary tract due to the close proximity of the anus and the urethral opening in women. In cystitis, bacterial infection in the urine causes irritation in the bladder, leading to burning when passing water and, usually, a need to run to the toilet frequently. There may also be an offensive smell to the urine which may be cloudy and blood stained.
